Albury is on the New South Wales border just across the Murray River from Wodonga, Victoria. The Albury Wondonga Region is midway along Australia's busiest inland corridor between Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne at the junction of the Hume Freeway and Riverina and Kiewa Valley Highways.  

The Murray River winds its way through rich farmlands, rolling hills and valleys. Paddle steamers once provided transport and trade on the Murray River starting in 1855.
